Hmmm, Twitter
So I just finished looking at Twitter to figure out how to use it, what to say, what others are saying, etc. I also read several opinion articles and blogs about the uses of Twitter. So far, from a teacher’s perspective, I see the usefulness of this site to be limited. One person said that his school was on Twitter. So if he was having technical difficulties during a class presentation, all he had to do was get onto Twitter, explain his problem, and someone would respond with advice RIGHT AWAY. That’s really convenient!
The other use that I imagined was for group work. If you assign any sort of group project, have your students join Twitter so they can share their progress, questions, links, and ideas.
I am open to trying new things, but so far I feel a little stalker-ish “following” people… As I continue to use this, I will keep you updated on different educational uses. Do you have any opinions?

I agree it is a difficult tool to get used to. It is very similar to chat. It is interesting to know what people are doing at a moment in time. But, I am not sure why this is so or how this can benefit the listener.
I do see some uses for this tool with our students
Binging experts in the field into our classrooms
Maybe teaching us to be brief with our thoughts and explanations
Sharing ideas with colleagues
Maybe letting everyone know there is an emergency on campus
Let’s keep thinking and talking about Twitter - Who knows what we will come up with.
Oh my goodness! I know what you mean about the stalker thing! I felt like perhaps I didn’t WANT everyone to know what I’m doing every time I’m doing it. It feels a little odd. However, I think it would be a great way to get in touch with people. Think about doing an international project? You could communicate with people in Rome about their culture without having to wait for email or have the expense of the phone call. That might be very neat.
